Is Humanatic a Scam?

***Update: 6/14/2012. Since I've been using Humanatic a while now, my opinion has changed a bit. Click here if you're interested in reading my post "A Second Look at Humanatic."***

***Update #2: 7/20/2013: A while back things started going down hill even more after writing this post. They made a bunch of changes to the site such as implementing a "time out" if they thought you marked a call too fast. It was only a few seconds but by the time you got redirected to the calls they were all gone. Not that there were every very many calls worth doing. Then they increased the payout to $10. So I just stopped using them. I tried to log in after not using the site for a few months to see if anything had gotten better only to find that I no longer have an account there. I don't know if they close your account for inactivity or if they just saw my less than perfect posts about them here (it's hard to tell with online companies, they do whatever they want and no one holds them accountable). Anyway, I don't care enough to inquire about it. So this post may no longer be accurate since I'm not involved with them anymore.***

So I've been reading a lot on various work at home and making extra money forums and blogs about a new site called Humanatic so I decided to give it a shot.

What is Humanatic?
Basically it's a company that helps other companies by having people listen to phone calls and determine which ones really need further attention and which ones don't. Many companies record their phone calls and as you can imagine, some poor manager probably has to sit and listen to ALL of them. Since not all of those calls need attention that is a lot of wasted time. This is where Humanatic comes in.

You sign up (and the sign up process is very quick and easy), listen to the sample calls, and then start screening calls. They're not always hiring though, but they say they are constantly adding new companies so they will need more people as time goes on. So if they aren't hiring I would still keep an eye on them if you're interested.

As of right now they have two types of projects you can work on. One is "outbound calls". In this one you simply listen to the call and determine if a live person was reached, a voicemail was left, or if it was a wrong number, etc. The other project is "new business opportunity". For this one you listen to the call and determine if it is related to general business (that is on going or has already taken place) or if it is an opportunity for the company to follow up with the caller to get new business. Both of these projects are extremely easy to do.

So how's the pay?
As of writing this, the "outbound calls" project pays 1.1 cents a call and the average completion time for each call is about 13 seconds. The "new business" project pays 3.9 cents per call and takes about 36 seconds per call.

So how much money can you make doing this?
As of right now there is no way to really answer that. Sometimes you log on and there aren't any calls that need screened. Also, some people may take a little longer to do calls and some may be able to complete them even faster than the average time.

How do you get paid?
As of right now they can either send you a check or send the money to your paypal account once you have at least $5.00. They also give out bonuses based on your performance. While I was screening calls I was given a bonus (and I've already forgotten how much it was, but I believe it was about $4.00 or so). So with the bonus I was able to reach the $5.00 cash out limit very quick. Payments are processed every Monday. I was doing this yesterday (which just happened to be a Monday) and I requested payment to be send to my paypal account. Within a few hours, there it was.  :)

So overall I am pretty pleased with Humanatic. The only downside I can see is that they may end up with too many people screening calls so there may not always be enough work available to make it worth while. This definitely isn't a job because the amount of work is too inconsistent, but this is a cool way to make extra money on the side. According to the leaderboard on their site, it looks like the highest anyone has earned in a day has been around $30 to $40. I would say you'd have to check in constantly to make that much money every day though.

I am really glad I found out about Humanatic and I will definitely be including it in my "making extra money" arsenal lol  :)

  2. I worked for them through Odesk and actually made quite a bit with them. I averaged about $75 a week which isn't bad for an easy work at home job.

    1. That's great. I wish I could make $75 a week on Humanatic. Just wondering, how long has it been since you worked for them on odesk? Cause lately there are almost no calls and the payment for each call has gone down too, which really sucks.

    2. They take about double the money you earn per call if not more if you mark a call wrong.

  4. I've worked for them about a month. I am lucky if I can make $1 an hour. I'm constantly getting audit alerts. Some of the audit alerts they said I did wrong were the same answer the auditor gave the call. Some calls they say I categorized wrong and I know I did them right. I think someone should audit the auditors. Especially if they're going to say something right is wrong and take some of your money away. The pay is piddlesticks as it is!!! Nice for them. They don't even have to pay minimum wage.

    1. I used to get audit alerts all the time too, even when I knew I was doing it right...sometimes I'd get an audit but the auditor wouldn't even pick an option and I was like "Seriously? lol You're going to tell me I'm wrong but you apparently don't even know what to pick yourself?" But I haven't gotten any audit alerts in a long time so I don't know if they improved the process or what...and I agree, the money isn't very good but it's worth it for some people (like me, I'm not working right now due to personal issues so I need every penny I can get).

    2. Yeah, but don't complain too much about the auditors. I did and they took the new business opportunity category away from me saying that it was too stressful. It got to the point where I would follow what an auditor said and another auditor would say that it was wrong. I was bringing this issue to someone's attention because it was affecting my productivity and I got penalized for it.

    3. Wow, that is incredibly messed up. I'm not surprised though. It seems it doesn't matter if you're working at a traditional job or working from home if you can be screwed over people will jump at the chance. Heaven forbid we actually expect the auditors to have their crap together and be on the same page when it comes to correcting people! lol

    4. i agree..they took money away from me and lowered my accuracy. they didn't tell me what i did wrong, so how can I learn...i'm not even making $1 an hour...i'm going to see if i work a little longer if my pay increases, or forget it.

    5. Same thing happened to me. I used to have higher paying categories. Just as I was getting good at them and getting bonuses for accuracy, they would take the category away. Their reason was I wasn't accurate enough. Really. Then why was I getting 10 bonuses a day for accuracy. Then they kept giving me lower paying categories. They did this to me several times. I think they give their friends the higher paying categories. I loved it at first, but so disappointed with this company now.

  5. hello, I am working in humanatic for 2 days now, and I got $4 dollars bonus but so sad because i cannot even reach $5 a day. :( how do you do that guys making $1 in just 1 hour?

    1. Earnings on humanatic aren't very consistent. It depends on how many calls they have that day, which calls you're working on (for instance I pretty much only do the "new business opportunity" calls which pay a little over 3 cents each. There have been a few days when I was lucky enough to make $10 a day and there are some weeks when I only make $5 for the entire week. It just depends. I think they also recently hired a bunch of new people and that means not as many calls are available but in my opinion many people will get fed up with the low earnings and quit and then those of us that stick it out will have more calls to do.

  6. Thanks kristy! I emailed them already yesterday regarding with my concern. Luckily they replied to me and said that I am doing good by my accuracy and by that they give more categories, and now I no longer run out of calls.

  7. just a tip guys i have worked for humanatic for just twp weeks and i noticed the best time to get a lot of calls to audit is on friday nights; i was ondoing it from about 5 to 12 am friday and there were over 3000 calls in outbound only that day so just a pointer fornyou guys the inbound had several nore than usual but still not more than 200 or so

  8. Thanks for sharing this kristy.I am also working on humanatic and already earning $10/day. I get 30-40 inbound task in the morning at 3am from 5am PST. Unfortunately I only earn less than $5 a day because am getting very few task now a days.

  9. Hi:
I just signed up with Humanatic and I see there is no real money to be made..wow I'm dissapointed already. Job are hard to find I thought I could make some $$$ not pennies. this is ridiculous.

    ReplyDelete
  10. yes this is really ridiculous!! they pay you a penny for every call and they get the bigger cash with all the hard work you do waiting and listening to those calls. They also have editors who choose wrong categories and then blame it on you even if you answered the call right. Thats pretty messed up! If there's anyone out there wanting to try humanatic, they will give you a bonus at first just to get your attention but in the long run they will just decrease your accuracy and deduct your earnings. This is a SCAM!! We should get paid well with all the things we do at humanatic. Everythings unfair nowadays

    ReplyDelete
  11. Humanatic is way worse now since your pay goes down every time you do a call.I heard of one person who even managed to get a -9.87 in his account from doing this. For now its a scam and I have no interest in working for free. Also the administrators or whoever made a post about the decreasing pay and said something like they subtract funds because they overpaid you.Lies...I haven't signed on for months so no excuse..

    2. Oh dear me. This sounds like a chargeback and a chargeback in a PayPal account can be VERY bad news because from what I've been reading on the internet, PayPal has a nasty habit of putting lengthy holds on funds in accounts which have had chargebacks. I don't want to risk that happening to my PayPal account because that's how I get my primary source of income.

I'm going to have to think long and hard about doing any work for Humanatic. Thanks for the info.

    3. You are totally right my friend,, they are scammers,, you spend more time defending from wrong accusations than answering calls, same call with same approach have always different answers and for every wrong penalization your accuracy rate is not restored, luckily I did this to fine tune my ear, at first I thought I was too bad until I realized that in my mother tonge they made false penalties also

  12. Many consider Humanatic as a scam. Now here's the proff that it's legit.

  13. So let's do the math people. Minimum wage is what, $7.50 an hour? 7.50/60 minutes = 12.5 cents a minute. Taking the highest they pay, 3.9 cents for 36 seconds means there really is a sucker born every minute. Can't wait until they outsource these jobs to save even more money.

    1. Yeah, the pay there isn't very good but some people don't have a choice. I haven't used Humanatic in ages though, since things went downhill and got even worse. But that's why I post about this stuff....so people can decide if it's worth it or not. It was worth it for me for a while but then they made a bunch of stupid changes and then it wasn't worth it anymore.

    2. Yes I aggree with you and Kristy. I signed up with them because I found some Youtuber talking about HUMANATIC and you could make money online. She acted as if you could get paid a lot of money. But 1 cent or 1.5 cents per call is not an option .Plus some of the calls that came in were very long and sometimes people NEVER got connected to the person. Also Humanitic deducts money from you if you put in wrong category.

I guess if you click too fast they put you on a break. But they have it where you can't really go thru it as fast as you need to in order to run the numbers. You would have to work 12 hours to do these things. They are in my opinion crooked but as long as we have bloggers out there who promote them and say how great they are then of course they will stay around. If nobody worked for them they would increase the payments and also give some sort of training. Nobody wants to lose money. I think I can do better.

    3. No way you can make that much...I did the qualification time...then did A LOT of calls and ended up with 2.00 in my act. Wow not so worth it

  14. Hi! I signed up for Humanatic last March 27 2015 but until now I haven't received a response for my application. Can you assist me? Many thanks

  15. Be careful, I found out today that they are cheating. Ive been with them for a few days. thats why i quickly googled "humanatic scam" and ended up in this page. I thought there was really something weird happening. I receive a 20 second call, the call was cut off which means that the call was not connected. But they penalized me because they said the call was connected. So I appealed it but when I got back to the page where you can see your mistake, guess what... the 20 second call became 100 plus seconds, which made my answer wrong. they replace the 20 second call with the full recording of 100 plus seconds. these people are cheaters!

  16. Stay away from this place. They have amateur auditors who are either non English speakers or complete idiots because nearly every penalty I've received I've disputed. Sometimes they are nice enough to admit that you are correct, other times you get no response at all or like the above review they change the game on you so your answer is wrong. Also the only way to make money here is if you unlock their advanced categories... Well suddenly they stopped auditing my calls in certain categories making it impossible for me to advance. If you have any lick of intelligence, go somewhere else. Upwork or Leapforce have been the only legit and fast paying online work from home jobs I've found.

  17. I agree with that just a while ago I was penalized when I listened to the call to have a second check I really thought I am correct so I decided to file a dispute, but when I'm done sending the comment/dispute the call was changed into another call which will make you putting the call to wrong category, Im a newbie here but I'm not stupid enough to have mistakes for a lot of times,.

  19. There is no one to report poor behavior or unethical behavior to. The people who decide if you get penalized or are the same people who reviewed the calls. You can sign up through HumaNation.

  20. They really don't check credentials or integrity of the people reviewing the calls. People all over the world are listening to these calls for a penny (more or less). I heard a call where a customer gave his credit card info out on the line and you heard every single detail. I was praying that his card is no longer in use because I can only imagine some shady character writing down his credit card info and trying to use it.This company should be reported for exposing confidential information.

  23. Waste of time. I made 2 buck a day. When auditors started to penalize me - They took away from categories and the money dropped to nearly 5 cents.

  24. They have a black lady whom goes under the pseudonym of Miss UndaStood. She is their number one mediator or reviewer or whatever. God what a dictator! She is spiteful and vindictive and her snotty remarks has seen many good reviewers leaving the forum. They should get rid of her first and then everything will work out fine.
